Project Management Education Requirement
Candidates must complete 35 Contact Hours of Project Management Education before submitting their PMP® application unless they hold an active CAPM® certification.
Beginning in late 2026, PMI may require instructor-led contact hours to be obtained through approved providers such as PMI Authorized Training Partners (ATPs), eligible accredited academic programs, or other PMI-recognized pathways. Self-paced learning options continue to remain acceptable as per PMI guidelines.

The PMP® examination evaluates a candidate's ability to apply project management knowledge, leadership skills, business acumen, and decision-making capabilities in real-world project scenarios. The exam consists of 180 questions, including 5 pre-test (unscored) questions used by PMI for future exam development.

Allotted Examination Time:
You are given 230 minutes to complete the examination. During the exam, there are two scheduled 10-minute breaks:
Note: Once a break begins, you cannot return to the previous section of the examination. After each break, you will sign back in and continue with the remaining section(s) using the remaining exam time.
Retaking the Exam:
Candidates who do not pass the examination on their first attempt may retake the exam. PMI allows up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period. After three unsuccessful attempts, candidates must wait one year from the date of the last examination before reapplying for the PMP® certification. During this waiting period, candidates may pursue other PMI certifications if desired.

What is the PMP exam pattern?
The Project Management Professional Exam consists of 180 questions and the duration for the exam is 230 min. The exam is divided into 3 parts. After answering, reviewing, and submitting the 60 questions, one can avail a break. Next break is allowed after next 60 questions answering, reviewing submitting. Total break time allowed is up to Ten minutes.

PMI® has conducted the Role Delineation Study (RDS) and has defined these terms as follows:
Domain: High-level knowledge area that is essential to the practice of project management.
Tasks: The underlying responsibilities of the project manager within each domain area.
Enablers: Illustrative examples of the work associated with the task. These should not be an exhaustive list but rather offer a few examples to help demonstrate what the task encompasses.

The PMP® certification exam has been aligned by PMI through its process with certification industry best practices, such as those found in the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. This process utilizes the knowledge and task-driven recommendations to evaluate the individual’s capability, and determine the levels of salience, criticality, and frequency of each of the knowledge, tasks, and skills required to perform to the industry-specific standard role of the project manager.
What is the duration 35 contact hours of Project Management training?
The standard duration of training is 5 days, and at certain time-based requests, this session is facilitated for 5 days.
Do you provide certificates on successfully completing the course?
