Course Overview

The CHPM or Certified Humanitarian Project Manager is an ideal program for working individuals responsible for addressing and maintaining human rights in the workplace. This course will help you:

  • Understand the meaning of human rights, a set of principles that apply to every worker regardless of their position, location, background, and beliefs.
  • Learn about international human rights law, such as freedom of expression, the right to equality before the law, and the right to work.
  • Examine the role of the United Nations Charter-Based System for monitoring and promoting human rights across the world.
  • Understand the significance of Universal Periodic Review (UPR), such as improving human rights, promoting equal treatment, involving civil society, etc.
  • Evaluate how to respond to human rights emergencies, address human rights violations, promote respect for human rights, and other purposes of a human rights council.
  • Analyze issues like hate speech, cybercrime, xenophobia, racism, and other issues handled by an ad hoc mechanism of the Human Rights Council (HRC).\
  • Understand treaty bodies, state obligations, legal duties, and characteristics of the treaty-based system.
  • Examine how the treaty monitoring bodies monitor the implementation of human rights treaties, such as conducting country inquiries and adjudicating complaints.
  • Analyze the difference between the international and regional human rights mechanisms.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of project managers in human rights impact assessments, implementation, policy development, and issues.
