The Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest Indian conglomerates with a turnover of 48.3 billion USD. It has an employee strength of over 120,000 employees that belong to 42 different nationalities. In the period of over seven decades, the Group has not only diversified its fields of operations but has also widened its global presence consistently. Today, the Group’s business operations from 36 countries in Asia, Africa and North and South America contribute to over 50% of its revenues.
The client has business facilities in south-eastern countries of Thailand and Indonesia. The majority of the staff working at the respective facilities is local and not much accustomed to English as a language of communication. For upgrading the staff, it was decided to conduct a training on English communication. An in-depth analysis of the training requirement showed, that it wasn’t so that the staff just didn’t understand English, but lack of proper knowledge and confidence strongly held them back and impaired the communication in general.
Considering the training requirements and the target audience (trainees) the client quite rightly wanted a local trainer proficient in English. Owing to the long standing experience in field of resourcing, Vinsys FLS sourced the local trainers with the necessary qualifications and experience that fulfilled all the client’s expectations. The trainers were provided in both the countries – Thailand as well as Indonesia. Vinsys FLS did a thorough qualification and competency check of trainers and finalised only the trainers, which showed the best results.
A 40-hours training programme over a span of 10 weeks (4 hours per week) was designed for both the locations. The programme was designed specifically keeping the client’s requirements in view. The entire programme was a huge success. Gradually, during the course of training, the trainees developed a command over the language and took a leap towards effective communication. The training also enhanced the employees’ confidence and shed their inhibitions and enabled them to express their ideas and innovations openly, clearly and confidently.
I am happy to inform that P&F is the first business to have launched the English Language Course as part of the Gyanodya South East & Far East programs in both our Units – TRC & IBR covering more than 80 employees. Our Unit HR Teams, Nisha, Alok from Gyanodya Team & Prathamesh from Vinsys Team have been extremely supportive in the planning, co-ordination and launch of the programs. The program is receiving excellent feedback from its participants. We shall soon also launch for Bangkok office and Saraburi (combined with other businesses).
