Volkswagen Group founded in 1937 and currently headquartered in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony, Germany is one of the largest automakers of the current decade. The company was one of the many businesses affected due to World War II and was also on the verge of being shut down. This setback was however overcome through consistent efforts, when the company’s vehicle production grew greatly in the 1950s and 1960s. The company never looked back and went on to introduce new models, acquire new companies and capture new markets.
Being an MNC for the better part of its corporate existence, Volkswagen Group sells, operates and has offices in many countries across the globe. As a result, there was an addition of “Translation” to its already expansive list of activities. The Volkswagen Group had its own team of linguist, but the work volume was just beyond the limit. They were looking for a business partner, who could cater to their translation volume with timeliness and quality comparable to their own team of linguists.
Since Volkswagen India already had its own pool of linguist resources, there were some generally accepted translations of certain terms. First of all, Vinsys FLS understood the translation domains to be catered to and the related terminology. This was followed by a close coordination with the linguistic teams of both the companies, in order to ensure concordance and consistency of the translated documents. In the process, due care was taken with respect to the confidentiality of the data and the documents shared.
The distributed load greatly expedited the knowledge transfer between the different departments of Volkswagen Group and Volkswagen India. The teams working on the assembly line, shop floor and paint shop got their instructions delivered in time. Moreover, even the departments of IT and logistics got their manuals and guidelines within the expected time interval. The time consumed in the clarification and understanding of various documentations was reduced significantly and this resulted in an overall rise in productivity.
